"The good fence"

fence defines. it defines inside from outside, and create a barrier between them.
"Iskurit " fence, is a a generic metal fence used in almost every construction site in Israel. it defines the area as a construction site, for an unknown period of time spreading from months to years.
the challenge in this work was to change the generic separator into a friendly element, while maintaining it's "temporary" status and using it to create a more free space.
the fence was the raw material of the work. I used perforation and drilling to transform the fence from a mass that blocks and divides, to an element that ties the inside and the outside. to uncover the site and expose it.
the design patterns and images are based on construction sites language. familiar images that creates a dialog with the urban environment, enhance the natural curiosity (whats being built here? how long will it take? what did they build by now?) and invite people to have a closer look inside.
